Lalia is a space for genuine connection and growth. These guidelines set out what we expect from everyone in our community, learners and tutors alike, so every session feels safe, respectful and encouraging.
Our values
Lalia is built on Christian values of respect, kindness and encouragement. We want every learner to feel welcome, and every tutor to feel supported, regardless of background, ability or where you're starting from in your language journey.
What we ask of you
Being part of our community
A few simple expectations that keep Lalia a good place to learn.
Be respectful
Treat tutors and fellow learners with courtesy and patience. Everyone learns at a different pace, and that's welcome here.
Be reliable
Turn up on time for booked sessions, and give as much notice as you can if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Be honest and engaged
Come ready to participate. Language learning works best when you show up, ask questions and give it a real go.
What isn't okay
We have zero tolerance for harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or abusive behaviour of any kind towards tutors or other learners. This includes inappropriate comments made during sessions, in messages, or on any of our social channels.
Sessions should stay focused on language learning. Please don't use lessons or our messaging channels to share content that's unrelated, offensive, or inappropriate.
Tutors are here to teach, not to be treated as a customer service outlet for complaints unrelated to their teaching, and learners are here to learn in a space free from disrespect or pressure of any kind.
Reporting a concern
If something happens during a session or in any interaction on Lalia that makes you uncomfortable, please let us know via our Contact Us page. We take every concern seriously and will follow up promptly and confidentially.
If guidelines aren't followed
We'll always try to resolve concerns with a conversation first. Where that isn't possible, or where behaviour is serious or repeated, we reserve the right to pause or end someone's access to Lalia's services.
